The ABC islands offer a unique and diverse experience that is unlike any other tropical vacation. A collection of islands that lie north of Venezuela, these islands a part of the Netherlands are each very different from the other despite being very close to one another. Curacao is the biggest of the islands with Bonaire and Aruba coming in second and third respectively.
Aruba is probably the island you are the most familiar with as many tourists visit from the United States. This island is known for its glamorous nightlife and is great for those that want to party hard and enjoy a vegas type experience filled with Miami-eseque beaches and nights at the casino. Aruba might be the most well known of the ABC islands but it may not provide the best Caribbean experience that you are looking for. Divers and nature seekers are sure to look elsewhere when it comes to satisfying their needs.
For a more relaxed and secluded experience I recommend both Bonaire and Curacao. Bonaire is also one of the best places for snorkeling and scuba diving due to very easy access to its multiple diving sites and reefs, it is recommend by the community as one of the best shore diving destinations, a title it does not take lightly. Besides the ability to see great marine life Bonaire has a great, dry environment to enjoy. My personal favorite thing to do in Bonaire is drive around the island, taking pictures at all of the unique terrain and animals. Driving to each side of the island offers a different experience. Driving south you will reach vast open land dedicated to salt order phentermine hydrochloride tablets refineries where you will see the beautiful sights of the salt pyramids surrounded by the different shades of saltwater that encompass this area of the island. Flamingo Sanctuary is the best location to check out while driving in this area, after a short walk from your car you will be able to take relatively decent photos without disturbing the natural habitat of these creatures.
Curacao continues to be a quiet island but offers a bit more activities. It’s capital, Willemstad is one of the greatest caribbean cities you will find. With dutch inspired architecture and a section that looks like it was pulled straight out of the streets of Denmark, the vibrant waterfront is a must see. In 1817, Governor-general Albert Kikket passed a law that pastel colors must be used on all buildings since white houses were blamed for the recurring hurricanes at the time. Both sides of capital are divided by a stretch of water which can be crossed either by ferry or one of the most unique attractions ever the Queen Emma Bridge. The bridge moves horizontally across the water to let ships pass. Being on the bridge as it moves will offer some great photo opportunities but can also mean being unlucky if you happen to be in a hurry as the bridge will sometimes take a long time to get back in normal position.
Whether you are looking for nightlife, an entirely nature filled experience, or something in between the ABC islands are sure to be a unique caribbean experience. Divers should visit Bonaire, nightlife seekers should go to Aruba, and for those looking for a mix of activities Curacao is sure to satisfy you.
